Currently EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, European Commission, Virginijus Sinkevičius was the former minister of Economy and Innovation of Lithuania (2017-2019) and a former member of the Lithuanian Parliament (2016-2019). As Commissioner, one of his main tasks is ensuring the environment, oceans and fisheries remain at the core of the European Green Deal, promote international ocean governance and develop a sustainable blue economy. He is also in charge of the Commission’s Arctic Policy.
